Well hey guys.

So, in case you didn't know (which if you didn't, you should be ashamed of yourself), Nintendo is holding a special 3DS Conference on September 13, starting at 12:00 P.M. in Japan. Due to the wonderful affects of time zones, the conference will take place on September 12 here in the States, starting at 11 P.M. EST (8 P.M. PST).

The official site mentions Ustream, so there will most likely be a live stream of the conference when it takes place. I'm presuming the official site will have a the stream as soon as the conference begins. Although the stream will obviously be in Japanese, you'll still be able to enjoy what's displayed in all of it's glory.

I'll try and keep you guys up to date as we learn more about this upcoming conference (though you guys can always keep tabs on Nintendo3DSBlog and other, more active news sites).

Not much is known regarding what this conference will exactly present. I'd place my money on a majority of the conference being devoted to upcoming software. Hopefully we'll learn more about games like Luigi's Mansion 2, Paper Mario, Kid Icarus, Animal Crossing (pleaseohplease), and other titles that we've been drooling over for the past several months.

Now onto hardware. There are some rumors floating around about a 3DS redesign to be coming in 2012. I find that to be quite a "low blow" for the early adopters of the system, considering the hit we've already taken with the recent price drop. There were also rumors that Nintendo would be releasing an extension for the 3DS that would add another analog stick. This extension would (presumably) be attached over the A, B, X, and Y buttons. This to me seems somewhat far fetched and even unfeasible, but I don't want to dismiss it just yet.

Anyways, that's pretty much it for now. I'll keep this updated as things unfold. Feel free to post your thoughts on the conference and what you think or hope will be announced.

Update 9-6-11:

Rumored to be announced/presented at the conference:
  • Monster Hunter with online play exclusively for the 3DS
  • A Yoshi side-scroller made by Good-Feel
  • A new game from the team that made Warioware
  • Etrian Odyssey for the 3DS
  • A Hatsune Miku game for the 3DS
  • A new 3DS color called Solid Silver
  • Super Mario 3D Land demo on the eShop
  • A new mystery game for the 3DS from the famous visual novel company Alchemist
  • Ace Attorney 5 with an Edgeworth scenario

i think it would be more functional if the stick was below the action buttons. Making it more Gamecube like. Which is the best controller ever.

Is this the same as the Tokyo Game Show or entirely different?

In any case, I'm excited to see what Nintendo has planned.

This is a separate event hosted by Nintendo specifically for the 3DS. ;)

I don't think the rumors of a new design are true; or at least, if there is a redesign, it wouldn't be released anytime soon. I feel like it would be a bad decision, especially after the price drop.

I've heard a lot of rumors about Nintendo announcing a "big title" as well, which I think is more likely. I completely expect them to talk about Paper Mario, Animal Crossing, Luigi's Mansion 2, and Kid Icarus, because it's been enough time for us to speculate; we need some updates. I'm really looking forward to the conference :D

Rumors have been surfacing that the following will be present/announced at the upcoming 3DS conference:
  • Monster Hunter with online play exclusively for the 3DS

  • A new mystery game for the 3DS from the famous visual novel company Alchemist
  • Ace Attorney 5 with an Edgeworth scenario
Original post.

Any thoughts?

Personally I think a new 3DS color is a lot more believable than a redesign, so I wouldn't be surprised if that rumor holds true. I'd also be pretty excited if Monster Hunter did make it to the handheld. Considering some of the latest rumors, it's certainly a possibility.

A new 3DS color is certainly possible. However, a new 3DS, as in a redesign, I highly doubt. I'll look for one of those in 2013. ;P

The only other rumor that has me interested is the Super Mario 3D Land demo. :))

Well Famitsu has confirmed Monster Hunter 3G for the 3DS which will also have an expansion accessory that adds a 2nd slide pad to the system.

Indeed. Excited about Monster Hunter. There goes another $40 of mine, yay. :'D

Second analog looks ugly and gimmicky. Not pleased at all.

Yeah it might not look the best, but at least we are getting something to give an 2nd slide pad. I can tell you from experiance (playing the PSP games) that playing a game like Monster Hunter with just one analog stick makes the game a pain to play.

This does tell me that there will eventually be a redesigned 3DS with 2 slide pads built in. Like how Nintendo redesigned the Wii Remote to have built in Motion Plus.

I'll no doubt still get it, as like you said, it'll make specific games a whole lot easier to play, and first person shooters will be amazing. I just hope they don't overprice this add-on. :<

HURRR KICKING THIS THREAD BACK INTO ACTION BROS

A new 3DS conference is coming this Friday, October 21st! Check out the official site - though you most likely won't understand a word that's being spoken because it's entirely in Japanese.

According to Nintendo Everything, "Iwata promises to deliver news that wasn’t shared during the “3DS Conference 2011″ held last month through a pre-recorded presentation. So, I suppose that this actually isn’t a conference."

The show, once again, will be viewable through UStream. Set your alarms though, this sucker starts at 7 A.M. EST (8 P.M. JST).

Hypetrain commence. Do you plan to watch? What do you expect to be announced?

I might or might not watch, depends on whatever decides to happen to me at the time.

I have heard rumors that Ace Attorney 5 will be Japanese-only (or at least still unconfirmed as to whether or not there will be an English release). Or... I could be thinking about Layton vs. Phoenix Wright...

Ouch! That's 6 a.m. for me......guess I'll go to sleep a little earlier tonight. ;P

I'd love to see something on Animal Crossing but I don't want to get my hopes up. I heard he's going to be talking about a firmware update and Mario Kart. Don't quote me on that though.
