Just because a person is older doesn't mean they wouldn't be offended. It's not even that it's offensive either. I will watch a movie that has some bad language in it as long as it's not in every single scene. That video in 30 seconds he used the word 3 times. There just isn't a need to overly use any word. Using swear words in a way that a valley girl talks with the words... like um... yeah we going out... like um that's totally cool... like um.. I'm sure you get the picture. It's just ridiculous.
I went to go watch the movie Insomina again because I liked it the first time I watched it. But every scene was the f word. I guess I've just gotten so use to not hearing it anymore that I cring when I do hear it because I find it completely unnecessary in every day speech. It's not an adjective people! It's an adverb when used in the proper sense. I just find that it's WAY to over used these days.
Well his whole thing is ranting about stuff, but I know what you mean. To me, words shouldn't be made a big of a deal as people make them, so I really don't care that much, but I'll try to put a strong language warning on links in the future. ;)

I actually haven't noticed all that much swearing on the boards. I don't often swear - though you will see me type the occasional "wtf" - but it doesn't bother me too much unless it's directed at me or I find it completely unnecessary. I do agree that some people (and the media) swear way too much. Like you said, f- is not an adjective.

That and his voice was a bit disturbing.

As a mod who reads every post made, I develop some animosity towards threads that are over 600 pages long and relatively boring at times. It got better as the year ended and I wasn't being too serious, though. So how come the 2011 chat thread was the worst of the year?

I don't think words are that big of a deal, it's just the over use that's all. I actually wrote a 3 page letter to my dad about the language when I visit home. Every sentence had to have the F word in it for him, my mother and my sister. I got so sick of it that I would only visit once a year because of it. But after I wrote the letter the next time I came it was a LOT better. No need to worry about the warnings though, I mean I adult enough where if I don't like the content I just stop watching. It's one thing when you're use to it, but since I live in a house where no one says a single swear, all my real life friends no one swears, the people I work with no one swears and the TV and movies I watch for the most part would have hardly any to none at all. It's just a culture thing of what I'm use to compared to others. Most people would hardly notice it these days. XD
Well, I believe this is the first time I have ever posted in a chat thread. So...hurrah.

I actually notice it more on cuccoscratch because of the one other user I was posting with there for the last month. She swears all the time. It's not really bad around this forum anymore. About a year ago though it did seem more frequent.
Anyways, welcome to the chat thread. I sure hope you come in here more often. Like Decho I'd love to see more actual discussion going on.

Kind of funny actually, I was talking to ZeldaSageofFire a couple weeks ago on IM and we discussed the way the forum has been going since he left the role of Admin. Apparently the increase in swearing has gone up so dramatically. I don't really notice it anymore because on my computers all swear words are turned to "hahaha" but when I was on my cell phone for the two week vacation... it was just terrible.
As for the end of the world.... not going to happen according to anyone's predictions, and even when it does happen... it's a selective destruction of the wicked only. And wicked in God's eyes are anyone that doesn't obey him the way HE wants. So I'm not worried in the least. *walks out of it untouched* It's all good!
I have also noticed this. I hear curse words all the time and they still bother me. There was this one Nintendo forum I left years ago simply because the language was too much for me. Honestly, I thought I was the only one here who cared about cursing.

Nope not at all hahaha. It thought it was rather funny because when I talked to ZSoF he was the one that randomly brought it up.
