The Movie of the Day Discussion

I think the mourning period of the previous MOTD/General Movie Discussion is over now and I want to bring it back. I may not update this with a new movie necessarily every day, but Movie of the Whenever I Damn Well Get Around To It didn't quite have the same ring to it.

That being said I'll update with a new movie to discuss, whether you love it or hate it we'll discuss it here. A pretty simple notion really. Should I not post a new movie on certain days, feel free to talk about whatever film you like. All applicable forum rules apply.

I'm going to do my best to link to the films I update the thread with, but should I fail to do so please remind me. I will update this post as necessary.

I've picked a fabulous film to kick this off and it will be up shortly.

Con Air ~ 1997

Action.

Adventure.

Love.

Ridiculous southern accents.

Mullets.

Bunnies in boxes.

Michael Bay.

Quite possibly the greatest true story based on fiction ever told.

I've seen Con Air several times and have never gotten tired of it. It's just so endearing in it's own special way. The premise is ridiculous, Cage does a great job overacting, the hamfisted fatherly love themes with the bunny, and that entire ending sequence.

IT'S YOUR BARBECUE MAN, AND IT TASTES GOOD.

LOL, he's awesome. He tells Bubba Gump that he's going to show him God does exist. You just can't take him serious with that awful hair.

Oh and....

Why couldn't you put the bunny back in the box?

Best. Line. Ever.

Seriously? How could you forget Nic Cage's mullet? He rocks that thing through the majority of the movie.

I read somewhere that John Cusack said he wanted to do a sequel. I thought, "has your career really fallen that far?" Then I remembered he was in 2012..... :awesome:

Yeah this is one of those on my to watch list. Hopefully it will come to Starz or Showtime since those are the movie channels I have access to.

It did look like it would be a lot of fun, maybe not anything deep but still a fun enjoyable watch.

It should have been called Robo-Rocky because some of the storyline borrows heavily from it. I'd recommend watching it if not for anything than the action sequences. I love Hugh Jackson, so the movie can't be all that bad.

Now a movie I remember seeing! LOL A friend of mine actually treated me to see this one in the theaters. I really liked it! I love Angelina in general anyways, but I felt this movie was pretty good. I liked the action, liked the twists and felt it was a good movie.

The plot was just "ok" I thought. Now the action sequences, some were just horrible. Her jumping from moving vehicles and then I specifically remember a part in an elevator shaft. Parts of it felt like a Bourne movie on 'shrooms.

Action sequences aside it wasn't all bad. I'd give it a "C" grade overall.

Yeah another one on my yet to see list. Although I was not in any hurry to catch this one, it looked just okay hence why I have not seen it yet. Usually with movies that I think are just going to be okay I just wait to see them if they are on TV and I am in the right mood for them.

Knowing you, I'd say you've made the right decision for yourself there Nights. I'd wait and catch it on TV.

Hmmm, I'm still trying to decide what movie I'm choosing today.

Yeah a lot of movies I just wait till I can catch them on TV before I see them. With some of them if I like them by the time I get to see them on TV, they have dropped in price so I can get them for less than if I just got them when they came out on DVD.

Oh goody finally a movie I have seen and actually remember a fair amount about :p:

But yeah I have always found this one to be a little overrated to be honest. Yeah it has some cool special effects and all, but I don't know to me it just felt like it was trying too hard to be something special and fell a bit short of that IMO. It still is a good movie and all, but not the awesome landmark film some claim it to be.
