I came across this today while watching Nintendo Direct through the Nintendo eShop on my 3DS today. I can't say I'm surprised. I do like how the top screen itself takes up more of the system.

According to the video and this article, this thing comes out on August 19th for $199.99. New Super Mario Bros. 2 is also set to be released on this date. Red and blue will be the only two colors availible upon release.

My husband had the DSi XL for a while, but he did happily trade it as well as his DS Lite to purchase his 3DS. Me, I think I'll stick to my new shiny purple 3DS, but I gotta admit that Ocarina of Time 3D would look pretty epic on this thing!

This looks nice. I knew Nintendo was gonna put out a 3DS XL at some point but didn't expect this soon.
I'll wait for the black colored XL to come out before I buy one.

Not something I will be getting but always nice to give the option to people who want it. I am happy with my Midnight Purple one I just bought. Still kinda surprised they did not add a 2nd circle pad to it. Guess they will eventually make a circle pad pro XL.

Didn't the DSi XL stretch the images so they were kinda blurry and stuff?

I can't say I want one of these. I like the sleek square design of the regular one, and so far I have no problems with the screen size. If this one was more comfortable to hold, I might consider getting it. I wonder how much it'll cost?

I bought a DSi XL for a friend of mine. It feels way to large for me so I know I'll be sticking to my limited special edition zelda 3DS :3 As much as I like the purple one, I like the decor on the one I have and it's the first time I ever got a limited edition.

Hm, I just got my purple one like two weeks ago and it was a birthday gift so yeah, I'm definetley gonna keep it. I wanted the thing for a long time. And besides, the XL systems are way to big for my tiny little hands. And I can fit my 3DS in my pocket. I'm just not a fan of the XL systems. :/

I'm curious if the material is different on the XL than the regular size. The 3DS has a very smudgable surface that I don't like...kinda like on my laptop. :s

Yeah it does look different. Me and my brother were talking about it earlier. lol Though I dunno if I want to buy it. I like my pink 3DS minus the lack of games....all the games I want come out either at the end of the year or next year. :s

It looks like something from the earlier 2000's with no modern appeal at all, and I'm not a fan of the heavily curved edges, not to mention the 3DS is a hefty handheld in of itself without it being super-sized.

I really like the shininess of the 3DS (I do like shiny things...), but I agree that it is highly smudge-proof kinda like the screen on an iPod Touch. I am constantly wiping away fingerprints. The DSi XL was slightly different than the DSi if I remember correctly and judging by the colors shown on Nintendo Direct, it does not look like it would be quite so prone to smudges.

I realize there are people who cannot see the small screens or have trouble pressing small buttons; regardless, I'm clearly not the target audience. I prefer my handheld devices small and sleek.

I still haven't bought a 3DS, and right now when I do it'll be the original design. Had they shown off a 3DS Lite I would have preferred that model.

Gameboy Micro is my favorite. :)

Once my 3DS starts to decay or get damged, I might consider getting the 3DS XL. But, it won't be until a long time. Although I do want a bigger 3DS, just not now.

The image is black, yet red and blue will be the only colors available on release? OK then...

Anyway, I'm actually not interested in a 3DS XL. I never found the appeal to the XL systems, all they do is make the games look more pixelated. Though for DS games they may make things a little less annoying...
