I thought I'd start a little convo about Pokemon evolutions that should exist or evolutions that just should not exist. So...yeah... I'll start:

Should exist:

Posted ImagePosted Image

Evolutions for Sawk and Throh.
While I have never used these two personally, my husband swears that they could be better. Some kind of evolution that gives them a ridiculous amount of muscle and Attack stat would be pretty sweet, I think.

Should not exist:

Posted Image
Politoed.
Why? I mean, you can also get a Poliwrath which is a whole lot cooler.

These are just my opinions, but feel free to try and sway them if you're a lover of any of these Pokemon. I'll hear you out at the very least. ^_^

Dunsparce.

It's almost like a joke or something, so small, so weak...

I suppose the same can be said with Delibird, though I think it's meant more of a joke Pokémon if used in battle. It's signature move present is pretty worthless.

For some reason I came to this thread expecting a heated debate about evolution vs. creationism. I am disappointed.

On a side note, pretty much the ones Keatos highlighted.

Wait, why didn't Keatos mention the Nosepass evolution? That thing's the worst.

The Eevee evolutions got out of hand. I love Eevee as much as the next Pokemon fan, but I think we should have just left it as Eevee, Jolteon, Flareon, and Vaporeon. (though personally I love Umbreon)

Actually, I really wish they'd just leave the original Pokemon alone....and I don't mean Generation 1. When they design the Pokemon, they should design it exactly as it will be - none of this three games later we decide there's a "baby version" or some new evolution created by a new stone we invented.

Case in point: Politoed. It messes stuff up more than it is helpful. At least the new Eevee's all look like they belong; Politoed doesn't fit at all...it's green...the others are blue and look nothing like frogs (except Poliwag who is kinda sorta a tadpole).

EDIT: When did Tangela get an evolved form....what are they thinking?!

I actually really don't like Rhyperior. It messes up the natural-ish grey design of its pre-evolutions and now it's all red and ugly. Mamoswine is pretty natural-ish for an evolution at least, from the few I posted.

And I forgot about Nosepass's evolution oops also ugly.

The Eevee evolutions got out of hand. I love Eevee as much as the next Pokemon fan, but I think we should have just left it as Eevee, Jolteon, Flareon, and Vaporeon. (though personally I love Umbreon)

I think Eevee evolutions are all pretty decent. Not a huge fan of Glaceon, but it still fits and I think Leafeon is cute. I would still like to see more Eeveelutions of different types.

I like some new evolutions and pre-evolutions of older Pokemon, so I wouldn't want to get rid of them. ;_; I actually like Politoad, it's cute. It looks different because trading evolutions usually have some sort of especially strange mutation to them. Some other new evolutions I don't mind are Roserade, Mismagius, Honchkrow, and Weavile. (note: I can't say anything about gen V because I'm a big dumb and haven't beaten the game yet or filled my seen dex)

Mamoswine is actually pretty decent, but yes, I agree.

Also, I totally forgot Tangela evolved. For a good reason. That thing is ridiculous.

I really love all the Eeveolutions. And personally, I'd love to see a few more lol.

What I think is weird about "finding" new evolutions or baby forms is that they're wayyy apart from each other in the national Pokedex and until the baby form is discovered (I am using the case of Pikachu and Pichu, for example), when you hatch an egg, you get a Pikachu until they mysteriously discover that there is indeed a Pichu and now you're getting Pichus from the eggs. Weird, right?

EDIT:
That's the exact reason why I don't understand Politoed. It looks nothing like its pre-evolutionary forms.

Agreed. Except I don't understand why Trubbish exists at all in the first place. Were they running out of ideas for Pokemon so badly that they had to make a garbage Pokemon?

Don't get me wrong. I am well aware that this is an awesome powerhouse of a Pokemon, but I've got to admit I was pretty dissapointed when I found out that my gorgeous Dratini/Dragonair evolved into this. It makes no since how

Posted Image --> Posted Imageand then... --> Posted Image

I totally wish Dragonite looked more like Dragonair! Dragonair is one of the coolest looking Pokemon, in my opinion.

Well to be fair, breeding didn't exist until gen 2 (when Pikachu existed). I think nowadays when they make new baby Pokemon, they make it so the parent must be holding a certain item for the baby Pokemon to be born.

Trubbish is pretty dumb, but it's not like we haven't had Pokemon like that before. See: Grimer and Muk. It is literally just a pile of sludge.

Personally I adore Dragonite. It's such a cute fat dorky dragon, but it does look pretty different from its pre-evolutions.

And need I explain the (non) purpose of a Magikarp. Pokemon SoulSilver just taught me yesterday that it is impossible to use a TM on a Magikarp. Useless things. Pain in the neck to evolve into a Gyarados, but completely worth it once you get there. Poor Gyarados has to start its life as a useless little Magikarp.

Look at Feebas. Same place as magikarp and that thing turns into Milotic.
Though it's harder because you need to max out beauty, Still....

I was just thinking about Feebas today as I was battling one. I meant to come back and edit the post, but forgot it.

I in general hate having to level up Pokemon with high friendship. I've never tried leveling up a Feebas myself, but how in the world would you level one up in Platinum? (Since I'm working on trying to get one and all...)

Haha, I know, right?
And it isn't friendship either. It has something to do with poffins.
Gotta have feebas eat them. Max out beauty and it would evolve.

I tried it and it never worked with me. Even Idk how people do it.

Scroll down to 3rd/4th gen. And it would tell you :V

Oh. Poffins. That's right. I never got too much into the Poffin making, but I certainly want a Milotic. That is one gorgeous Pokemon.

I think evolutions like that are pretty cool, though. Starting out weak and turning into something strong is the entire point of Magikarp and its evolution.

As for Feebas, apparently it's really hard to evolve... I haven't even been able to find one, though. Only in gen 3 and 4, though, it seems to be a bit easier to evolve in gen 5. Before it was near impossible since Pokemon stop eating the poke blocks and poffins after a certain amount of time.

Ohman. That really crushes my dreams of having a Milotic. Nah, I'm going to keep trying to get one. And when I do, I'm gonna name it....you know, I don't know yet. I'll get back to you on that one.
