I do not think they will do a sixth generation already, although it would make since (in a way) to start a new generation on a new console. Never before (someone please correct me if I am wrong) have they had a generation span across two different consoles. I suppose if they remade Ruby and Sapphire, they would be for just the DS. I don't think they could technically start a new generation with remakes of old games. I tried so hard to explain this to my hubby, but we ended up arguing over it. If they start a new generation, like Mage said, it will have to be all new Pokemon and also an all new region.
It must be big if they're doing an international announcement rather than releasing the info. in Japan first. But as we all know, if anything is released anywhere at all, we will all know about it. It just doesn't mean it's official for the rest of us just yet.
I will be very very disappointed if it's something for the Wii U. I know they have made Pokemon Rumble Blast and Pokemon Conquest, but I would love very much to see a regular Pokemon gameplay game for the 3DS. Most specifically, I'd love to see a remake of the Hoenn games. That's really what I'm hoping for and unless it's something totally completely awesome, I will most likely be disappointed if that is not what the announcement is.
