I'll try to talk about particularly good games and gems which I discover while backlogging through these libraries. I would also love to hear suggestions to add to my list. They can be from any console- however for now I am really only looking for suggestions up to the days of... Let's say up to the PS1 for sony, the dreamcast for sega, and the N64 for Nintendo. I suppose Atari games are fine too. As are portables. And arcade games.

For chrono trigger I suggest going into the secret ending.

I'm replaying it myself now.

Which secret ending? There are like... 8 endings aren't there?

DS version only, clear the dimensional vortex and then go to the bucket

Hmm, I'll have to consider that when I reach the DS age. Or when I hit Chrono Trigger on my SNES list :v

So right now I'm playing Gargoyle's Quest 2- And It's so far a pretty great game.

Looks fantastic (I'm pretty sure this is because much like Little Samson it came very late in the life of the NES)

Spoiler

The controls are tight, and some features I love to see in NES games like Wallclimbing/walljumps, and flight/glide. The stage layouts are not exactly the most thoughtful- but I do appreciate the aspect of adventure and interaction outside the levels in the overworld as well as the exploration and secrets in the levels themselves. Not too much to say, just sharing.

I'm just mentioning real quick, You've only got three boxes for Dragon Warrior games for the NES, and the fourth one is like, one of the best games made for the NES ever. Don't miss out on that, it's a game you finish because you want to keep playing it. One of those, "aw I wish it kept going" games.

And seriously, if you want to keep your sanity, take off Ghosts n' Goblins. I don't actually think that game is possible without save states. It's like the dam level in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles where you have to defuse all of those bombs with a time limit and all of the dangerous seaweed and timed lasers, except for a whole game, twice, because the first playthrough apparently doesn't count.

I could suggest a page-long list of NES games that are honestly worthwhile, and point out a bunch of unfinished ones on your list that I despise, but if I had to make one non-RPG recommendation, I would say play Metalstorm. It's my favorite platformer, ever made, by a lot. Give it a shot and don't forget to push A+up and see what happens.
