Am I the only one that talks about video games on here anymore?

Ahem...

So Pikmin 3 is out in almost a month! August 4th being the exact date. It stars a new crew of astronauts that aren't from the same planet of Olimar (very disheartening for me, but at least the new characters look fun). You have to collect fruit this time around apparently, I'm gonna miss the random junk in Pikmin 2.

Who is getting it? I will be 'Pik'ing it up day one hopefully. Depends on when money comes in.

There was also a Pikmin Direct in Japan today. If you want to watch:

I would like to, but I'm not exactly sold on the Wii U just yet - the PS4 has peaked my interest pretty high now, but I would eventually like to get both.

I'm very on the fence about this game. I enjoyed Pikmin 2 on the Wii; it was a great $20 game. I'm just not sure I'm ready to spend $60 on Pikmin 3 for some minor differences.

I'm buying it more on the fact that it is an expansion. I love the games, and I want to support it. Not to mention I bought a Wii U specifically for that game.

So the first Pikmin 3 review is out of the gate: http://www.ign.com/a...pikmin-3-review

Scored itself an 8.8. But one thing worries me. The reviewer seemed to want to make a point that it is a short game, and that it's mission mode is probably the main point.

Pikmin 2 was such a long lovely game with all it's dungeons and stuff. It's a little depressing that their return doesn't seem evident in this game. I guess the mission mode can be consider as such. But it's not exactly the same. I mean, I always find myself more motivated to complete the game if it is part of the game's story mode. Side stuff isn't really that interesting to me.

Miyamoto did say he wanted a more relaxed, less strategic experience from the game. So i guess I should've expected it....

But all and all, I won't prejudge the game too much. I just hope it lives up to what Pikmin 2 was. Which was way better then Pikmin 1.

Who knows, maybe Nintendo will release some DLC for it in the future. I would like to find out what happened to Olimar and his companion.

It's likely any DLC to come out will be in Mission Mode.

I'll betcha the story may have a few surprises here and there. Although this IS Miyamoto we're talking about here....NO STORY ALLOWED, ONLY GAMEPLAY!

I hope if they do release DLC, they think about making new assets for new maps in mission mode, since the Mission mode isn't running through the same maps as in the campaign. They are all their own little areas.

*facepalm* Oh yeah...It's kind of ironic that he created the Legend of Zelda series. You know, since they have stories.

You can thank Eiji Aonuma for that. He's been the director of every Zelda game since Ocarina of Time, with the exception of the DS games and Skyward Sword (Miyamoto ran those shows. Funny, those are the worst Zelda games. Well, Skyward Sword is pretty praised, not for story though.)

Aonuma would even slip in story elements behind Miyamoto back sometimes... hahahahaha

Although Yoshiaki Koizumi is responsible for all the lovely side quests in Majora's Mask. Koizumi was also responsible for Super mario galaxy's story. Something number 2 lacked.

This conversation inspired to me to check the staffing on Pikmin 3. Oddly enough, Miyamoto isn't mentioned anywhere. Despite him being the sponsor for the game at E3

Also, Japan is receiving it pretty well. It's sold about 92,000 copies in the first two days. 22,000 people bought a Wii U just to play Pikmin 3.

Wow that is weird.

That's good. I wonder how many copies have sold here.
